[LIFE] A Multiple Destination Journey

Just like a Multi City Flight ... Our Careers Are Multiple Stops

I'm an avid traveler. You know the kind that does not tell many about so called big trips... because technically in their travel life --- its not a lot that makes them get giddy :) Yes, that's me. I'm not sure how I got to that place, but I did. You may see my pics after my travel --- but I'm just mum on traveling. However, there is something about planning one trip with multiple destinations. You know the one's where you start off in let's say an Atlanta, then you stay a few days in Chicago, and then a week in Toronto, and then you go back to Atlanta.

My last multiple destination flight was from Raleigh to Detroit to Salt Lake City, to Oakland, and then back to Raleigh within two weeks. Each trip I landed, got a rental, went to my hotel and nestled into my typical travel journey.

Well, I'm at that point again with my lil ole career. Not my scientific career (that was retired in 2010), but my acting career. I love my progress to date.

My Career Timeline:

2008: Principal character in 1 act play, "Diagnosed" in Durham, NC (paid) + lots of auditions and training
2009: Principal character in play, "Broken" in Durham, NC + lots of auditions and training, I signed with agent
2010: Booked a paid commercial, lots of auditions, lots of writing, watched lots of films
2011: Booked 1 commercial, worked as a English dialect speaking hostess at the GA Renaissance festival, feature film and tv extra work, directed two shorts, signed up with another agency, Sag eligible, networked a lot, Women in Film and TV board, and now working on getting to my next level.

In a nutshell, I have to go from small work, to medium work, and then big work :)

I mention this because when you know you belong on a certain level, it can be a challenge not to look back at where you have been. Yet, if you are serious --- then you are not going back.

I know my next level, and daily, I am working hard to get to that place.

[BUSINESS] Everything Is Coming Together --- Thank You God!!!

The Pieces of My Life Are Coming Together

Great things are happening with all my involvements. I had to take a step back from everything earlier this week to look at my progress and where I may be slipping with planning, execution, and action. But most importantly this week, I had to make sure my thoughts about my projects were peaceful, progressive, and honest.

I also learned this week to keep my mind clear from confusion by being focused on the end results of every thing I am involved in. This is really important if you have a lot going on like I do. I also learned to value my time more. This being calm thing --- has been amazing for me. I typically stay busy w/o real progress. No more.

Here are my haps for the rest of the week (PS, I had a GREAT audition last night at the AIA):

1. Reshoot the final scene from a short film I did a few weeks ago
2. Conduct interviews for cast and crew for my upcoming projects
3. UN Day event at Georgia State University on Sun @3pm

Everything is coming together :)

Check out these links to the panels that I have planned for the upcoming 2011 Digital Atlanta Conference:

[LIFE] Unconventional Measures

I love this song. I feel that with our lives and such we must get a little crazy at times to make things happen. I know for me --- every time I try to be practical with what I do... I never succeed.

So, its about that time that I do some unconventional things to get me where I am going....

[LIFESTYLE] Its Near Time For A Vacation

From Punta Cana last Fall
Around this time last year, I was gearing up for a week in the Caribbean. But in addition to that vacation, I also ventured to California twice, NY a few times, and I even managed to take my mom on vacation in Savannah, GA.

So it feels super weird to state that I have not been on a vacation this year at all. This is the first time that this has happened like in 6 years or so. I also take trips to clear my head or so. But this year I have been nonstop busy that I have not even made anytime for myself. I mean its been a wonderful type of busy.

Well, I am going to take a much needed vacation in November. I don't know where I am going. Maybe a short trip to Florida or so. I'm not sure. But wherever it is I want it to be beautiful.

In the meantime, I am headed off to set to shoot this webseries, and then gearing up for this producers workshop in the morning. I have a full plate, and its good stuff. Just ultra busy. I must add, I got on the scale this morning and that shit wasn't looking good :) so I gotta go hard in the gym the rest of this year too.

Life is comedy.

[Biz] Jumping In The Water W/ Sales!

Please Check Out The Official Pictures from short film, "Out The Blue", starring me (Masha Dowell), and Leanna Adams. We had a blast shooting it on this past Saturday!!!

A lot on my horizon this week. I have to send my new headshot out for work, and hopefully new Atlanta representation. I must sale myself to get contract work, and build my business. Then on another front, I am working sponsorship for Women In Film & TV and Atlanta. The Digital Atlanta conference is coming together. I'm excited about it. Again, I'm conducting sales, because this week, I start promoting all events for the conference. I'm nervous, because I've never done this before. Let me back up. I have done sales before, but for others. For other companies.

This time its all on me. I'm using sales with contract work, with volunteer work, and even my love life!!!! So when it boils down to it, if I can sale myself. I can do some big things! So that's what this week will be focused on. I like this challenge. I'll win. In some form or fashion --- I'll win.

This past week, as you see above, I shot a short I wrote, directed, and starred in with pal Leanna Adams. Check out the pictures above! Its my second film that I created this year. With that stated, I just signed up to take a producers workshop with Paul Garnes on this Sunday. I need to learn and make it happen!!!

[LIFE] Ask & Recieve

IMAGE LINK

I've worked really hard in all areas of my life this year, and If I could place my finger on a lesson that I've succeeded with the most its very simple," Ask For What You Want". Now, we've all heard this before, and many times we will focus on the rejection of "asking". Well, I can tell you when you start your journey of "asking" there will be lots of rejections. But not for all the reasons that we may think.

Some Reasons Why We May Hear The Dreadful "NO" Word:

  • Its not something that falls into alignment with the other parties mission.
  • The timing is off. Just simple as that. * This is the most common reason
  • You may have burned a bridge with that person & they have not healed well enough to work w/ you.
  • The way you communicate what you want is not reaching your target as it should. In others words you suck at communicating your desires.
  • Your vision lacks passion. A little passion behind a desire will open a lot of doors.
  • Its not meant to be --- no matter how hard you try.

So, of course I had to list the "NO'S" first, but what I have learned is that the more you cast your desires, and ask... the more you receive and at various times. For me this year blessings that I have asked for have come back to me in avalanche form, or like raindrops --- consistent and at certain times. Now, I must say there are many waiting periods. Many delays a long the way. But as the saying goes, " When It Rains, It Pours"... that's an understatement when it comes to simply asking for what you desire.

When it comes to People That You Should ask, I say ask any and everyone that you can be of use to. Meaning, people that you talk to daily, your social media pals, etc... Now you may be wondering well, what exactly are you asking for? Well, for me, I am asking for new clients for business, asking for advice, asking for support with my ventures, asking God for guidance --clarity, asking myself what's wrong when I am down. Hell, I am seeking romance as well --- but I don't ask people. I just go to the sources that are in the business of helping people find love and romance ;)

In a dream last night God told me to cast my desires the best I know how. Not to be perfect, but to just get started. For me this message was for me to grow my contracts and business. I do a lot of volunteer work, and unfortunately, I suffer financially at times. So God told me, just as I am comfortable with asking for help for free, I need to do the same for a fee.

I'm following the instructions of my dreams starting today. I'm excited about the outcome!

[UPDATE] 90 Goal Feedback!!!

I should allow people to make comments on this site. After all the purpose is to connect with others :) I'll change the sites settings tonight. So let me know your thoughts, if you agree with me on some topics and if I piss you off a bit!

Well, for those that don't know, from July 1st to September 30th ---- I went through a 90 day full life make over! I pushed hard to upgrade my whole life, through action, prayer, and my resources. Well, during this process I learned a lot about making dreams happen. You just have to do it. You just have to start. You just have to zone in on what you desire. You just have to have deaf ears to haters, slackers, and many others.

Well Here's My Accomplishment List :

1. I lost some weight and I look great! Joined a new gym! Can't say I'm eating better :( hehehe

Pic From Last Week

2. Global Culture Science Brands has been organized very well. Updated bplan, new bcards (see below). W/ Global Black Women -- we have a revised mission (services), added a Latin America contributor & more! W/ The Culturatist --- we have a new mission (service), lastly --- the Speak Scientific Productions, Global Culture Films, and Global Culture Publishing sites will be up and working shortly! I also gained a few contracts along the way with website creation, logo's, designing business cards, and more!

The Biz card

3. I wrote, directed, and produced my first short, got SAG eligibility, and now working on three more projects (directing/writing/acting in two, and just producing/acting one). New headshots on 9/25/11 with photographer Tommy N.

Me In A Scene

3. Invited to join the Women In Film & TV of Atlanta Board as The Director of Sponsorship. Check out the site at www.wifta.org

4. Invited to be the Multicultural day track planner for the 2011 Digital Atlanta Conference. Check out the site at www.digitalatlanta.org

5. Rejoined the church I was baptised at in 2001 --- Antioch Baptist Church. I'm having some questions about my motives and desires with this upgrade. I'll write about that later.

6. I was able to get another car. I had been doing without  a car for most of the summer. It was a HUGE eye opener for me!!!! I am forever grateful.

7. I won an award to attend an actors workshop in Vic, Spain in September, however, I did not raise enough funds to go. So, I'm saving my money to go God willing next year.

8. Furnished my apartment --- I love interior design ---etc... I have a bit to go!!!!

9. New pals, New vision board, etc!!!!

10. I was invited to travel to Washington, DC for the 2011 United Nations Association Annual Meeting.

11. When I started out my 90 day goal was to simply meet new romantic opportunities. Well, actually, I was blessed with so much more. Exactly --- on September 30th ---- I was able to get VERY clear on my love needs and wants.... after 90 days of getting to know myself better, meeting some nice guys, and last and VERY fortunately reuniting and then FOREVER ending it with an old toxic love. I'm giddy b/c I now can make a new start. I feel excited about my love future.

So, I loved my 1st 90 day challenge. For the next 90 days, I am going to focus on further growing everything I put into place over the past year. Namely my love life, career, and my wealth.
